An autumn lesson

It is autumn again. New children in Gruntland go to school for the first time. They are sons and daughters of the new families – Trixie and Sporty (Fitty and Jingle), Elvie and Chloe (Sticky, Longie and Peps), Reci and Bunnie (Bottly and Hairy), Sleepy and Fashiony (Rie and Japy). There are also the children of Wooly and Ruby with them.

One day they have got homework to do. They learn the names of trees. It is very hard. The children are tired.

– I don’t know how to learn it, says Jingle.
– Let’s play a game! shouts Peps.
– Great! says the rest.

The pigs put the pictures of the trees on the floor in a circle. They start to play a game.

Fitty throws the dice. He goes around the circle.

When he stands on a picture of a fruit of a tree he can take it. If he stands on a picture of a tree he must tell the name of this tree. If he has its fruit, he gets a point.
One moment Japy cheats. There is a flash and…

– What has happened? says Thread. Where are we?
– You are in the Game World, says Pi.
– Who are you? shouts Sticky.
– I am the master of the game. I will teach you the names of trees.
– Wow, say the pigs, cool!

– Here you have got different leaves and fruits. Do you know them?
– No, we don’t, says Bottly.
Pi claps his hands. On the floor, there is only one leaf.

– This is chestnut tree and these are its fruits. Remember it, says Pi.
He claps his hands again. On the floor, there is another leaf.
– What is this? asks Pi.
– This is an oak leaf and an acorn! – shouts Longie.
– Well done you! says Pi. Now you must go for a walk and find Crab and Turtle. They will show you another tree.
– Wow, cool, say the pigs.
– Crabs and turtles live in water, let’s seacrch for a lake, says Bally.
Soon they find a lake.
– Crab and Turtle, are you here? they shout.

– Hi, what do you want? says a voice from the water.
– Pi sent us here, can you teach us a name of a tree? says Fitty.
– Sure, this is Willow. It likes water. And these are its leaves.
– Well done! says Pi who appears suddenly. Now, find a hedgehog and he disappears.
– Let’s go to the park, says Hairy.
In the park, under some leaves, there is Hedgehog.

– Hi, can you teach us a name of a tree?
– Of course, I can. This is a leaf of Linden and this is a leaf of Maple. And These are the shapes of the trees.
Pi appears and claps his hands.
– Way to go! he says. The game is over. You know all the trees, says Pi. There is a flash and the piglets are back in Gruntland.
– Wow, what a great lesson, they say… It was easy and fun!
