It is a very special day in Gruntland. It is St Andrew’s day and the pigs want to tell fortune. People do it in some countries in Europe.
A guest comes to their village on this day. His name is Sphinx. Sphinx is an astrologist. He knows a lot about planets and stars. He can read horoscopes. Everybody comes to meet him.
– What are horoscopes? ask Belly and Kermit’s children.
– A horoscope is a map of heaven at the time when you are born, he answers. There are planets, zodiac signs, and houses in the horoscope. You can see the zodiac signs in the night sky. They are groups of stars. A horoscope is a circle with the ring of the zodiac signs. The planets are in the zodiac signs and in the houses. The houses are the parts of the circle.
– I don’t understand anything, says Grunting.
– Well, it is difficult. Look at this.
And he shows the children a horoscope. He shows them the zodiac signs and the planets and the houses.
– Can you read my horoscope? asks Beauty.
– Well, I can, but ask your parents if they agree.
The parents don’t agree. They say astrology is not for children.
– You can pour hot wax into the water instead, says Sphinx.
– But why? asks Beauty
– To tell fortune. You can read the shadow of the wax shape. It is a tradition on St Andrew’s day.
– Be careful with the wax! says Belly.
So the girls from Gruntland pour the wax. The boys say this is stupid.
The girls get the shadows. Can they predict their future?
Shinx can also read Tarot cards. His computer calculates the horoscopes. Hippie and Elvis come to him. He reads their horoscopes. Elvis takes notes. Everything is very interesting. What does he tell them?
Then Cushy and Pillowy come to Sphinx. He tells them that… their family is going to be bigger. Pillowy is excited. She takes notes. Cushy is sleeping. He thinks astrology is nonsense. What else does Sphinx tell them?
Sphinx likes Gruntland and he decides to stay here. He is a new citizen now!
