Cygnet thought she was ugly and she spent a lot of time in front of the mirror.
One day she looked in the mirror and froze – instead of herself, she saw a frog. She thought she had hallucinations.
– Oh no, there is something wrong with me, she said to herself.
But then she looked at her hooves and she saw, she was really a frog. She was devastated. She wanted to call her dad, who was a doctor, but she remembered her parents had gone for two days with her stepsister Pepy.
Then her friend Groom came. He entered her room and of course he didn’t recognize her.
– What are you doing in Cygnet’s room? he asked.
– Groom, I am Cygnet! I looked in the mirror and I became a frog! croaked Cygnet.
Groom was shocked.
– What shall we do now?! he cried.
– You must make Cygnet believe she is pretty.
– Who told it? asked Cygnet.
– I am fed up with you looking at yourself with reluctance!
Now they were both shocked. It was the mirror talking to them!
The situation was serious…
Groom felt uncomfortable. He liked Cygnet but he was very shy.
– How can I do it? he thought.
Then he had an idea. He took a piece of paper and started to write complements for Cygnet on it. The frog read them, but she didn’t believe.
So Groom held her paws and said:
– My Cygnet, you are beautiful, I can even marry you. And he blushed.
– Really? croaked Cygnet. You really think so? Somehow she felt better.
They spent nice time together till the evening.
Cygnet thought about her look when she was falling asleep.
When she woke up she didn’t look in the mirror. She was scared to see the frog.
Groom came some time later and he shouted:
– You are a pig again!
– Am I?! yelled Cygnet.
– Yes, look at your hooves.
– Thank you Groom you saved me. I believe now, I am not ugly!
– You aren’t! You are my pretty girlfriend.
Cygnet smiled and said:
– Yes, I am.
