Pepi likes playing board games. Children from Gruntland aren’t interested in them too much. Only Piglet likes playing with Pepi.
One day they went to a meeting of game lovers in Curly Tails. They went there by train. Curry tails is far – fifty kilometres away. They were excited about that journey. It was their first travelling without parents. Fortunately the meeting was close to the train station so they easily found it.
Piglet wanted to make a surprise to Modesty, who lived in Curly Tails, and call her after the game lovers gathering.
How surprised he was when he met Modesty at the meeting! Piglet was very, very happy.
-You are here?! How come? Why didn’t you tell me you were coming here?
Modesty was surprised too.
– I didn’t think you were interested in games, answered Piglet. I wanted to call you later and make a surprise. Wow, it’s fantastic, we both like games, said Piglet with delight.
The first game they played was Ludo.
Modesty won. Pepi and Piglet became angry. They stopped controlling themselves and shouted at Modesty that she had cheated. Modesty was shocked.
Suddenly there was a flash and all the pigs became as small as the counters on the board. Modesty was a fairy. She had beautiful pink wings .
– What’s happened?! shouted Piglet.
– This is your punishment, I think, said Modesty.
– Did you do it? asked Peppy.
– How? I also became smaller.
– But you are a fairy.
– I’d rather be myself!
– What shall we do now? asked Piglet.
Suddenly they saw a piece of paper on the board. They read what it said:
‘The rule of the game is not to get angry. You broke it. Now you must be the size of the counters and play once again. Modesty has got magical powers and she can help you if she wants.’
So they played once again as they had no other idea what to do.
Pepi and Piglet had to push their heavy counters on the board. Modesty used magic to do it. She is a good pig so sometimes she helped her opponents. The winner was Pepi. When she won, she said:
– I won but I’d rather we were normal size again.
She had one wish as a winner. So there was a flash and they all were big again.
They didn’t remember anything but only knew that Pepi had won the game. They were not angry, they congratulated her and went to play different games.
Piglet was happy to spend time with Modesty. They arranged to meet in Gruntland and play games again. Modesty promised to come.
