An autumn walk

One day Trixy and Sporty, a new couple in Gruntland, go for an autumn walk. They see lots of tasty berries.

They eat strange orange berries:

red berries of barberry:

red fruits of wild rose:

yellow fruits of quince:

purple fruits of elderberry:

brown fruits of chestnut tree:

and blackberries:

The fruits are yummy and they eat a lot of them.

Suddenly Sporty feels dizzy.  She sees that the trees and other plants around are all dead.

– What’s happening?! she cries. This is an apocalypse!

Trixie sees the same.

– I don’t know but I’m scared, he says.
– What shall we do now? asks Sporty.
– I feel sick, I don’t know, replies Trixie.
– Maybe… Let’s find somebody and ask, suggests Sporty.

The pigs are wandering around, doing strange things and suddenly they meet a caterpillar.

– Why are all the plants dead? they ask at once.
– Are they? Where? reacts surprised caterpillar.
– Can’t you see? Everywhere!
– Are you ok? worries the caterpillar.
– I’m dizzy, says Sporty.
– Me too, says Trixie.

– Hmm, thinks caterpillar. Have you eaten anything?
– Yes, a lot of berries.
– What colour?
– Yellow, red, orange…
– Orange?! Interrupts the caterpillar. What plant was it?
– Ugh… I don’t know, confesses Trixie.
– You eat berries which you don’t know?!
– Aren’t they all edible? asks Sporty.
– Of course they aren’t! Firethorn, for example, has got a little poisonous orange fruits, explains the caterpillar.
– Oh my, are we dying?! cries Sporty.
– No, but you will feel bad. Headache, stomach ache, vomiting…
– Oh no, we don’t want!
– I can’t help it, says the caterpillar, I am sorry.
– Can you help us come back home at least? asks Sporty.
– Where are you from?
– We are from Gruntland.
– It is far for me but I have a great idea. I will call my parents butterflies, they will show you the way.
– Thank you! Sporty and Trixie are happy.

So the pigs follow the butterflies to their homes.

They have to recover for two days.
– What a sad, educative adventure! they think.
