A snowy visitor

It was snowy in Gruntland. Snow is not common in here. Willy and Squirrely’s three children – Artie, Scamp and Scotty wanted to play. They decided to play with snow.
At first they threw snowballs at each other and had fun.

Then they decided to build a snowman. They were rolling balls, rolling and rolling because they wanted the snowman to bo beautiful.
– Let’s put the balls together, said Artie.
When they finished, they went home for an old hat, sticks and coal for buttons and eyes.

– Wow, it’s beautiful, said Scamp when the snowman was ready.
– Yes, you are right, said Scotty.
– It’s better than I thought told Artie.
After a moment they heard a voice.
– Hello children!
– Who said that? asked Artie.
– It was me, your snowman.
– You’re alive! shouted the children in one voice.
– Yes, I am!
– But how?! asked Scamp.
– I was sent here from Snowland to learn how you pigs celebrate Christmas.
– What do you mean you were sent?
– When the snowmen want to go to different worlds they send snow there with an idea of making a snowman, explained the snowman.
– Wow! shouted the children. What is your name?
– I’m Merry, and you?
– Artie.
– Scamp.
– Scotty.
– Nice to meet you pigs!
– Nice to meet you Merry!

– So pigs, how do you celebrate Christmas?
– We decorate a Christmas tree, said Artie.
– Do you sing carols?
– Carols? No, humans sing them.
– What else do you do?
– We give presents to each other, answered Scampie.
– What kind of presents?
– Toys, sweets, fruit, nuts, clothes, books, games, etc.
– Oh, I see.
– We also have got a Christmas Eve Supper, said Scotty.
– What do you eat then?
– Vegetable salad, borsch, dumplings, cakes, celery fish,…
– Celery fish? What is it? interrupted the snowman.
– It’s a slice of a boiled celery wrapped into seaweeds and fried.
– Strange, muttered the snowman.
– Humans used to eat fish, but now they eat something like that and we took the recipe from them.
– I see. How do you spend the Christmas time?
– We play games, watch pig TV and human TV, go for walks and everybody does what they like.
– Oh pigs, you have a very nice Christmas. Thank you very much for that conversation. Anyway, I’m a journalist and I am going to write an article about your Christmas in my newspaper. Do you want me to give your names in the article?
– Yes, we want! Yupi, we will be in a newspaper in Snowland!
– They wanted to thank the snowman but he… disappeared.
– Hmm, where is he?  asked Scamp
– Was that all real? shouted Scotty
– What a strange occurrence!, summed up Artie.

This story was made up by my student Karolina. The photos were taken in her house. Thank you Karolina!
