It is three days before Christmas. Grandma Belly is telling a Christmas story to her grandchildren. They are listening with interest.
” One day a bad witch wants to destroy Christmas. She hides in the forest and waits for Santa Claus.
Santa comes to the forest to feed his reindeer. He leaves the animals and goes for a walk.
When he comes near the witch, there is a flash.
After that there is no Santa. Only his hat stays.
What has happened? Oh no, Santa is changed into a tree!
Forest fairies notice a new tree. They can hear silent creaking for help. They recognize Santa.
They gather together and discuss what they can do. Because witch’s power is too strong they can’t disenchant Santa on their own.
In the meantime pigs start to cut down the spruce trees to decorate them for Christmas.
– Oh no! cries one fairy, we must tell the pigs about enchanted Santa. If they cut him down there will be no Christmas anymore and Santa will die! It can’t happen!
The main fairy meets children because they can see fairies easier than adults. She brings them to the forest.
– Dear children, I am sitting on Santa Claus now.
– What? cry the children. What do you mean? You are sitting on a tree.
– Yes, because Santa in enchanted into this tree.
– Impossible! shout the children.
– I am sorry, but I can hear him crying for help. It is true. A bad witch did it.
– Oh no, now what?
– Go and tell your parents not to cut down the trees for Christmas. They may decorate artificial Christmas trees.
– Oh yes, we have to do it!
– Then you have to find a wizard who can disenchant Santa.
The children run home and warn their parents. Then they go to Percius, the wizard. The main fairy flies with them”
– Percius is the wizard in our village! suddenly shouts Strawberry.
– Yes, he is, but he is very old and he lived when that story happened.
– Wow, amazing, say the children. He looks young.
– He is young, although he is old, smiles Belly. He is a wizard.
– Aaaa, we see, say the children.
– Ok, so let’s continue, says grandma.
“When parents learn about Santa, they worry about him and start making artificial Christmas trees out of green paper and wires. They like these trees very much. Then they decorate them.
When Percius hears what happened he runs with the children to the enchanted Santa. He takes his magic potion with him.
When they arrive to the place he sprinkles the tree with the potion and says the spell. After that Santa is back.
Everybody cheers. Forest fairies are very glad that this year the forest stays the same, no trees are cut down.
– Every cloud has a silver lining, says the main fairy.
– We can always have only artificial Christmas trees, say the children.
– It is very good of you, say the fairies. Trees are beautiful when they are alive in the forest.
Since that time pigs never cut down trees for Christmas.”
– What a strange story, says Ghosty.
– Now we know why we always have artificial Christmas trees, adds Vanilla.
– Thank you Grandma! say the piglets.
